Hello SDSU Friends!

You know me. My name is Rich. I live in Fresno, California. It is over 100 degrees almost every day now! Because it is so hot here most of the summer, my wife Lois and I are water people and spend as much time as we can at Pismo Beach or floating on our boat at Shaver Lake. If we can’t get to big water, we swim in our pool. We love water! I play golf and ping-pong.

I have been a teacher for Madera Unified for 26 years now. I have taught 4th and 6th graders. I have been a Technology Coach for the district for five years. I work at different school sites daily, training teachers, working with students at the computer, and maintaining equipment.

I have only created one blog and that was for Terri Linman’s 572 class. It has not been maintained very well and had only one added post….. I have no experience with wikis other than using Wikipedia from time to time. I have never created a podcast, although I subscribe to a few. I do have thousands of songs on my ipod, though. I am not sure where I am headed with all these new tools at the moment. We have started a blog here at Madera Unified for a week-long summer training we are doing right now with about 150 teachers. The training is about using the Promethean software with their interactive whiteboards. We are hoping the teachers will use the blog to post their thoughts about the training, questions they may have, or ideas they wish to share.

    Hi Rich,

Could you email me the link to the blog you’re talking about? I’d like to see it. Thanks for joining our class.

    Beautiful picture…Is that Bass Lake?

I am not sure that all the teachers will take the time to use a b log site to collaborate, time will tell. I can’t wait to evaluate use of the MUSD Promethean Users’ blog.

    Whose baby is that?
And why aren’t you at work?

I really like your idea about the whiteboards. I don’t teach in a classroom, so I am not as familiar as I’d like to be with all of the tools to use in the classroom. I will have to subscribe to your training!

Have fun in Pismo Beach and at Shaver Lake. My friends are headed up to Shaver in a couple of weeks for their annual family gathering. Sounds refreshing (wish I could go!)

I hear you about the weather. We just flew into Modesto four days ago and it has been nothing but nasty dry heat. Cool page.

I am totally not a water person, but I think that heat like what you’ve got up in Fresno would quickly turn me into one. I love the simplicity of your blog. It has a nice clean look.

No one down here in Chula Vista knows what a Promethean board is! I only heard about them since I started this program. Good luck with your tech tools and with staying cool and wet this summer!
